LAST TIME OUT
Junior guard
Jhazmine Lynch scored a game-high 21 points in her homecoming but it wasn't enough as the Colgate women's basketball team dropped an overtime heartbreaker to the University of San Diego 75-73 Monday night at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
Lynch, a San Diego native, drained a jumper with 30 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime, but saw her half court shot at the buzzer find the back of the rim in overtime.
Lynch led the Raiders in scoring, while freshman
Mariah Jones matched her career-high with 18 points. Senior
Tricia Oakes pitched in 11 points, while classmate
Kelly Korkowski added eight. Korkowski also recorded a game-high 10 rebounds, while Jones grabbed eight boards.
SCOUTING NIAGARA
The Purple Eagles lost their last game versus Penn 55-41. Shy Britton led Niagara with 12 points and two rebounds. On the season, Lauren Gatto is averaging 10.8 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game while shooting 43 percent from the field.
THE SERIES AGAINST NIAGARA
This will be the 37th meeting between Colgate and Niagara with the Purple Eagles leading the all-time series 23-13. Niagara has won the last two meetings, including a 78-39 win in Hamilton during the 2007-08 season. Colgate's last win came during the 2005-06 season, when the Raiders topped Niagara 75-47 at Cotterell Court.
SCOUTING CANISIUS
Canisius is coming off its third loss of the season, dropping a contest to Eastern Michigan 65-53. The Griffins are led by Jamie Ruttle averaging 11.8 points per game and tied for the team-high with 4.8 rebounds. Jen Morabito is averaging 9.8 points per game, and has hit 11 threes this season.
THE SERIES AGAINST CANISIUS
This will be the 35th meeting between Colgate and Canisius with the Griffins leading the all-time series 22-12. Canisius won last season 70-65 in Hamilton. Colgate's last victory came during the 2006-07 season 62-59 in overtime.
STAY TUNED....
The Raiders are still searching for their first victory of the season. Competitive in every game this season, the Raiders have a feeling their first win will be coming in the immediate future. The Raiders have lost six of eight games by less than 12 points, with four of those games by less than six points. A victory would give Head Coach
Nicci Hays Fort her first victory with Colgate.
