BURLINGTON, Vt.  (11/18/11) – The Colgate women's basketball team dropped its first game of the TD Bank Classic 61-49 to Vermont Friday night at Patrick Gym. Junior guard Jhazmine Lynch recorded her third-straight game in double-digits scoring with 11 points, while freshman Kelly Reid grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds.

The Raiders also received 10 points from senior Tricia Oakes, while classmate Candice Green scored seven and Reid recorded six. Kelly Korkowski recorded a game-high four blocks, while Lynch led the team with three steals.

Colgate (0-3) scored the first two points of the game after freshman Mariah Jones made a mid range jumper, but the lead didn't last long as Vermont responded with a 10-2 run and never looked back. The Catamounts extend their lead to 30-17 with 2:38 remaining in the first half, before the Raiders closed the half with an 8-0 run, capped off by back-to-back three-pointers from Green and Lynch to make the score 30-25 at halftime.

Vermont (3-0) opened the second half with a 9-1 run to extend its lead to 39-26 with 13:25 remaining in regulation. But the Raiders responded with a 12-6 run to trim the Catamounts lead to 45-38 with 8:52 left. Vermont then finished the game with a 16-11 run to claim its third win of the season.

Vermont out-rebounded the Raiders 49-39, but Colgate's defense was able to hold the Catamounts to shooting just 35 percent from the field and 18 percent from three-point range. Both teams shot 50 percent from the charity stripe.

Colgate will play its second game of the TD Bank Classic tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 19) when the Raiders face Dartmouth at 5 p.m. at Patrick Gym.
