Women's Basketball at TD Bank Classic This Weekend

Raiders visit Vermont this weekend
BASKETBALL GAME CENTRAL

Saturday, Nov. 19 – vs. Dartmouth 5:00 PM

The Colgate women's basketball team will travel to Burlington, Vt., to compete in the TD Bank Classic at Patrick Gymnasium. The Raiders will first face the host Vermont on Friday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. followed by Dartmouth on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 5 p.m.

Both games will be streamed for free online via CatamounTV at UVMathletics.com. Tickets for both games can be purchased online at UVMathletics.com, via the phone at 802-656-4410 and in person the day of the game.

LAST TIME OUT
The Colgate women's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker to Cornell 59-56 Tuesday night at Newman Arena. Junior guard Jhazmine Lynch led the Raiders with a game-high 17 points, eight rebounds, four steals and three assists.

Colgate (0-2) got 11 points and eight rebounds from Tricia Oakes, while Mariah Jones was in double-digits for the second time in as many games to start her collegiate career with 10 points. Jones' classmate Kelly Reid provided energy off the bench with six points and six rebounds.

SCOUTING VERMONT
The Catamounts are coming into the contest on a two game winning streak to begin the season. In their last contest Vermont defeated Fairfield 65-48. Junior Shanai Heber posted a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Lauren Buschmann also had a good game as she added 14 points and five rebounds.

THE SERIES
Vermont leads the all-time series against the Raiders 12-4 and has won the last eight meetings. The most recent victory for Vermont came during the 2007-08 season where they defeated Colgate in 78-41. The Raiders last win in the series came during the 1989-90 season 71-66 in Hamilton.

SCOUTING DARTMOUTH
The Big Green dropped its opening game versus Kansas State 54-20. Dartmouth is led by Faziah Steen who is averaging nine points and three rebounds per game. Head Coach Chris Wielgus is entering her 29th season with Dartmouth and has never lost to Colgate.

THE SERIES
Dartmouth has dominated the series versus the Raiders with an all-time record of 10-0. The last time the two squads have faced each other was during the 2006-07 season at Dartmouth a the Big Green walked out with a 68-48 victory.

FRESH FIVE
The Raiders welcome five freshmen to this year's squad. Guards Mariah Jones from Silver Spring, Md. and Missy Repoli form Marlboro, N.J, forwards Kelly Reid from Richmond Hill, Ga., and Carole Harris from Lansing, Mich., along with center Steph Schultz from Pottstown, Pa.
