Colgate answered back with a 10-play, 80-yard scoring drive that saw Zuahn Lewis find the end zone from seven yards out to go up 14-10 at the half.
The Raiders defense then took over to start the third quarter as senior
Adam Lock sacked Mathews. The sack also forced a fumble that Lock recovered on the Cornell 7-yard line. McCord then found the end zone for the first time to put Colgate up 21-10. But the lead didn't last long as Rashad Campbell returned the ensuing kickoff 85-yards to make the score 21-17. Hasenberg would find the end zone again, this time from three yards out, to give the Raiders a 28-17 lead after the third quarter.
