Football to Host Cornell on Homecoming Weekend

Colgate has won the last three meetings against Cornell.

Sat., Oct. 15 – vs. Cornell (Hamilton, N.Y.), 1:07 p.m.

The Colgate Raiders (3-3, 0-1 PL) will host rival Cornell (2-2, 0-2 Ivy) for Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 15. Kickoff is set for 1:07 p.m. at Andy Kerr Stadium and will be live on Time Warner Cable Sports.

THE SERIES
This will be the 94th meeting between Colgate and Cornell, with the Big Red leading the all-time series 48-42-3. Colgate has won the last three meetings including a 44-3 thumping last season at Schoellkopf Field.

THE COACHES
Colgate head coach Dick Biddle, who has the most wins in school history, is in his 16th season at the helm of the Raiders. His overall record is 123-58, and 12-2 against Cornell.

Cornell head coach Kent Austin is in his second season with the Big Red and has a record of 4-10, and is 0-1 against Colgate.

CORNELL NOTEBOOK
The Big Red (2-2, 0-2 IVY) is coming off a 41-31 home loss to Harvard at Schoellkopf Field. Sophomore quarterback Jeff Mathews threw for 322 yards and three touchdowns, while Shane Savage hauled in eight passes for 152 yards and two scores.

Cornell is led on offense by Mathews, who has completed 80-of-125 passes for 1,122 yards and nine touchdowns, while Savage leads the team with 21 catches for 351 yards and five scores.

On defense the Big Red is led by Brandon Lainhart who has a team-high 41 tackles, two for a loss and one sack, while Brett Buehler has 35 tackles, seven for a loss and one sack. Rashad Campbell leads the team with two interceptions, while third with 27 tackles.

STEMPECK NAMED PL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Freshman CJ Stempeck was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week following his performance against Monmouth. Stempeck is the second Raider to receive this award this season.

Stempeck had two big plays in Colgate's 26-14 win over Monmouth on Saturday. He caught a 15-yard touchdown pass to get the Raiders on the board in the first half, and came up with a block of a 34-yard field goal attempt to help Colgate preserve a 20-14 lead in the third quarter.

LOCK EARNS CFPA HONORABLE MENTION
Senior linebacker Adam Lock has been recognized by CollegeFootballPerformance.com for his performance against Monmouth.

Friel earned College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Honorable Mention after recording four tackles, two for a loss, one sack and one forced fumble against the Hawks.

COLGATE LOVES NEW YORK
The Raiders have a perfect 2-0 record at home this season outscoring their opponents 75-48. The road hasn't been so kind to Colgate which has a 1-3 record, while being outscored 130-70 in its four games outside of Hamilton.

CAREER RUSHING CHART
All-American running back Nate Eachus, is climbing up the Colgate record books. He currently has 4,350 rushing yards and 51 touchdowns, both rank third overall. Eachus needs 650 yards to become just the third Raider to amass 5,000 yards in a career, while he needs 1,271 yards to break the all-time rushing record of 5,621 set by former teammate Jordan Scott '07. Scott also holds the all-time record in rushing touchdowns with 57.

600 AND COUNTING
Last season the Colgate football team became just the 15th program in FCS history to reach 600 wins after topping Cornell 44-3 on Oct. 16. Colgate now has an all-time record of 606-450-50. The Raiders are also the ninth winningest program in the FCS over the last decade. Since 2000, Colgate has posted a recorded 89-39 and won four Patriot League titles.

• Colgate has won 71 of its last 93 Patriot League games.
• Colgate has won 31 of its last 46 games decided by nine points or less.
• Colgate has won 43 of its last 52 games at Andy Kerr Stadium.

THE BIDDLE ERA
Colgate head coach Dick Biddle is in his 16th season with the Raiders and has an overall mark of 123-58. He has achieved the best winning percentage (.686) of any Colgate coach with seven or more years at the helm of the Raiders.  Biddle is also the first Colgate coach to ever record nine straight seasons with seven or more victories.

He has been named Patriot League Coach of the Year four times while guiding the Raiders to six Patriot League titles and six appearances in the FCS (formally I-AA) playoffs. In 2003, Biddle was named the American Football Coaches Association Division I-AA National Coach of the Year after leading the Raiders to a 15-1 record, and to the national championship game of the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs.

COLGATE VS. NON-CONFERENCE TEAMS UNDER BIDDLE
In 16 seasons under head coach Dick Biddle, the Raiders are 51-37 against non-conference teams for a winning percentage of .593. They have a 35-9 mark against the Ivy League.

Colgate will travel to Georgetown on Saturday, Oct. 22. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. at Multi-Sport Field.
