Basketball Game Central
HAMILTON, N.Y. (1/25/11) – The Colgate women's basketball team will host Patriot League foe, Holy Cross, on Wednesday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. on Cotterell Court. The Raiders will look to improve on their 1-4 record with a win against the Crusaders.
The game will also be Jr. Raiders Day in which fans can get post-game autographs from the players.
Colgate (6-13, 1-4 PL) is coming off a 76-66 overtime loss to Bucknell on Saturday (Jan. 22). Senior
Tayler Wejnert led the team in scoring with 17 points and four rebounds while freshman
Lauryn Kobiela had 13 points and a team-best seven assists. Freshman
Kathryn Taylor and junior
Kelly Korkowski led the team in rebounds with five apiece.
COURT LEADERS
Sophomore
Jhazmine Lynch leads the team with 12.9 points and a league-high 2.7 steals per game. She is followed by Wejnert who is averaging 12.1 points and 4.9 rebounds while senior
Krista Moser, who averages 7.4 points per game, leads the team in rebounds with a 6.9 average.
TEAM STATS
The Raiders lead the league in defensive rebounds (27.1 rebounds per game) and three-point field goal percentage (.360). The team is also second in the league in scoring offense (62.3 points per game), field goal percentage (.393) and rebounding offense (39.3 rebounds per game).
1,000-POINT CLUB
Senior
Sami Kozlowski, who has started every game in her collegiate career, is now just eight points short of reaching the 1,000 career-point mark. Ending the 2009-10 season as the Raiders' leading scorer, she has already accumulated 151 points this season.
THE SERIES
Holy Cross leads the all-time series, owning a 41-3 record against the Raiders. Since the teams first met in the 1990-91 season, the Crusaders have held the advantage with Colgate's only three wins coming in the 1993-94, 2003-04 and 2005-06 seasons, all of which were on Cotterell Court. Holy Cross won the last meeting between the two teams 78-65 on Feb. 24, 2010 in Hamilton, N.Y.
SCOUTING HOLY CROSS
The Crusaders (6-14, 2-3 PL) are coming off an 84-53 loss to American and a 53-39 loss to Navy last week. Picked to finish fifth in the preseason poll ahead of Colgate, the team has already secured league wins against Lafayette and Bucknell and has a loss to Army.
Holy Cross is led by senior Whitney Fremeau and freshman Alex Smith. Fremeau leads the team in points with an average of 12.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per game while Smith is second, averaging 11.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. Sophomore Amy Lepley leads the team in rebounds with a 5.4 average.
PRESEASON POLL
The Raiders were picked to finish tied at sixth with Lafayette in the Patriot League Preseason Poll that was released on Oct. 28, 2010. Last season's runner-up, American, was picked to finish first with a total of 93 points and nine first-place votes, which was two points over defending champions, Lehigh, who had 91 points and seven first-place votes. Following the Eagles and Mountain Hawks are Navy (70), Army (59), Holy Cross (42), Colgate (40), Lafayette (40) and Bucknell (31). American's Michelle Kirk was chosen as the Preseason Player of the Year.

Pamela Bass has made a deal with her team that is bound to have her in the best shape of her life. For every charge her team takes during a game, she will do one push-up on the court right after the foul is called.
