HAMILTON, N.Y. (1/19/11) – The Colgate women's basketball team experienced its third Patriot League setback on Wednesday night when it fell to Lehigh 75-57 on the road. The Raiders now have a 1-3 league record.

Senior Tayler Wejnert led the team in scoring with 15 points and five rebounds while sophomore Jhazmine Lynch had 11 points and three steals. Senior Krista Moser led the team in rebounds with seven, five of which were defensive.

The game started off even between the two teams who traded baskets as they tried to figure each other's strategy out. As the half progressed it was Lehigh that was able to build its offense and by the 15-minute mark held a 14-8 lead. The Mountain Hawks continued to extend their lead and by the 13:02 mark had an eight-point advantage. Colgate (6-12, 1-3 PL) answered back, going on an 8-4 run over the next three minutes to reduce the scoring margin and put the score at 24-20 midway through the half. Lehigh began to feel the pressure and in response picked up its pace once again but this time the Raiders followed suit, staying within seven points of their opponent. However, in the closing minutes the Mountain Hawks were able to extend their lead and by half time held a 39-29 advantage.

In the second half, Colgate came out to a strong start, hitting a three-pointer and making some aggressive plays in an attempt to reduce the scoring margin. But despite their efforts in the early minutes of the half, as the game continued Lehigh began to find its momentum once again, extending its lead once again. By the 12:31 mark the Mountain Hawks had taken the 56-38 lead as it carried it momentum into the final 10 minutes of the half. The Raiders continued to play hard as they fought to stay in the game, but in the end, it was Lehigh that was the stronger team, eventually winning the game 75-57.

"Lehigh did an excellent job attacking us in the inside,” stated head coach Pamela Bass. “That coupled with our turnovers really took us out of our flow. Tayler did a great job attacking on offense."

Colgate had a 37.1 field goal percentage, shot 37.5 percent from the line and was 5-11 from beyond the arch.

The Raiders will resume play this weekend when they host Bucknell on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. in Cotterell Court.
