Basketball Game Central
HAMILTON, N.Y. (1/10/11) – The Colgate women's basketball team will host Patriot League foe, Lafayette, on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. on Cotterell Court. This will be the Raiders' second league game of the season.
Colgate (5-10, 0-1 PL) is coming off a 54-40 setback to Army in its conference opener on Friday night in Hamilton, N.Y. Senior
Krista Moser led the team with 12 points and four rebounds while sophomore
Jhazmine Lynch and junior
Kelly Korkowski had a team-best five rebounds each.
COURT LEADERS
Lynch continues to lead the team with 14.6 points per game, which also has her placed at third in the league. She also leads the league in steals with a total of 42 for a 3.0 average. Lynch is followed by senior
Tayler Wejnert who is averaging 12.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while Moser continues to lead the team in rebounds with a 7.3 average.
TEAM STATS
The Raiders, who were picked to finish sixth in the Patriot League preseason poll, lead the league in defensive rebounds with 27.7 rebounds per game. The team is also second in the league in scoring offense (62.5 points per game), field goal percentage (.390) and rebounding offense (39.9 per game).
THE SERIES
Lafayette leads the all-time series with the Raiders 29-25. The teams first met in the 1976-77 season in Hamilton, N.Y. Since then the Leopards have won 13 of the 25 meetings they have played on Cotterell Court, with Colgate owning a 12-13 record at home. The Raiders won the last meeting 60-57 in overtime when they hosted Lafayette on Feb. 10, 2010.
SCOUTING LAFAYETTE
The Leopards (7-9, 0-1 PL) are coming off a 72-67 loss to Holy Cross in their league opener at home on Saturday. The team, which was picked to finish seventh in the preseason poll, has wins against Bryant, St. Francis (N.Y.), Fairleigh Dickinson, Manhattan, La Salle, Quinnipiac and Columbia, and has losses to Long Island, Liberty, Monmouth, Fairfield, St. Bonaventure, Princeton, St. Joseph's, and Pennsylvania.
Lafayette is led by senior LaKeisha Wright and freshman Danielle Fiacco. Wright leads the team in scoring, averaging 12.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while Fiacco is averaging 6.2 points and a team-high 8.3 rebounds.
HOME SWEET HOME
Colgate is 4-2 on Cotterell Court this season. Having played majority of its games on the road, the team opened its first home game with an 85-58 win over NJIT on Nov. 17. Since then, the Raiders have had wins over Cornell, Loyola-Chicago and St. Francis (N.Y.) at home with their only two setbacks coming against Canisius and Army.
PRESEASON POLL
The Raiders were picked to finish tied at sixth with Lafayette in the Patriot League Preseason Poll that was released on Oct. 28. Last season's runner-up, American, was picked to finish first with a total of 93 points and nine first-place votes, which was two points over defending champions, Lehigh, who had 91 points and seven first-place votes. Following the Eagles and Mountain Hawks are Navy (70), Army (59), Holy Cross (42), Colgate (40), Lafayette (40) and Bucknell (31). American's Michelle Kirk was chosen as the Preseason Player of the Year.
1,000-POINT CLUB
Senior
Sami Kozlowski, who has started every game in her collegiate career, is now just 44 points short of reaching the 1,000 career-point mark. Ending the 2009-10 season as the Raiders' second leading scorer, she has already accumulated 118 points this season.

Pamela Bass has made a deal with her team that is bound to have her in the best shape of her life. For every charge her team takes during a game, she will do one push-up on the court immediately after the foul is called.
