Football Kicks Off Patriot League Play Against Georgetown

Sat., Oct. 2 – vs. Georgetown (Hamilton, N.Y.), 1:00 p.m.

The Colgate Raiders (1-2) will kickoff Patriot League play against Georgetown (3-1, 2-0) on homecoming weekend Saturday, Oct. 2. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m., and will be live on Time Warner Cable Sports.

THE SERIES
This will be the eighth meeting between Colgate and Georgetown, with the Raiders leading the all-time series 7-0. Colgate won last season 31-14 in Washington, D.C. This will be the first home game for the Raiders against Georgetown since 2006. The game scheduled in 2008 was cancelled.

THE COACHES
Colgate head coach Dick Biddle, who has the most wins in school history, is in his 15th season at the helm of the Raiders. His overall record is 114-53, and is 7-0 against Georgetown. Biddle has won eight or more games in seven seasons during his career.

Georgetown head coach Kevin Kelly is in his fifth campaign with the Hoyas. He has compiled a mark of 8-39, and is 0-3 against the Raiders.

GEORGETOWN NOTEBOOK
The Hoyas (3-1, 2-0) are off to their best start ever in Patriot League play and overall since the 2000 season. Georgetown is coming off its first victory over Holy Cross since 1999 and first homecoming win since 2006.

The Hoyas scored 17 unanswered points, 14 in the fourth quarter, to topple Holy Cross, 17-7, and improve to 2-0 in Patriot League play. Georgetown is led on offense by junior quarterback Scott Darby, the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, and senior wide receiver Keerome Lawrence.

Darby completed 26-of-44 passes for 191 yards and a touchdown against Holy Cross, he also ran for 98 yards. Overall this season Darby has thrown for 833 yards with six touchdowns and only one interception. Lawrence leads the team with 24 receptions for 253 yards.

On defense the Hoyas are led by David Quintero and Robert McCabe with 30 tackles apiece, while Jeremy Moore leads the team with five tackles for a loss.

COLGATE LOVES HAMILTON
The Colgate football team has won 11-straight home games at Andy Kerr Stadium dating back to 2008. The last home loss for the Raiders came against Furman, 42-21. Colgate has also won seven-straight Patriot League games at home. The last time the Raiders lost to a league foe was in 2007 to Fordham 34-31.

A 1-2 RECORD IS GOOD?
After losing to Syracuse on Saturday the Raiders dropped to 1-2 overall for the first time since 2008. That season Colgate lost two of it first three games before winning eight-straight, including a 5-0 record in the Patriot League to claim its sixth conference title and advance to the NCAA Playoffs.

EACHUS LEADS PL IN RUSHING
Junior running back Nate Eachus leads the Patriot League in rushing and all-purpose yards per game. He is averaging 142 yards per game rushing, which ranks fourth in the nation, and 153.3 in all-purpose yards.

DIMASSA IS A TACKLING MACHINE
Senior linebacker Chris DiMassa currently leads the Patriot League in tackling with a total 32, which equals 10.7 per game. The last Raider to lead the league in tackling was Mike Gallihugh with 123 in 2007.

CLOSING IN ON 600
The Colgate football team enters Saturday's game against Georgetown with 597 wins, just three shy off becoming the 15th program in FCS history to reach 600 wins. The Raiders are also the ninth winningest program in the FCS over the last decade. Since 2000, Colgate has posted a recorded 83-37 and won four Patriot League titles.

Tailback Nate Eachus, a two-time All-Patriot First Team selection, is climbing up the Colgate record books where he is eighth in rushing touchdowns (29) and 10th in rushing yards (2,277).

COLGATE VS. PATRIOT LEAGUE TEAMS UNDER BIDDLE
In the last 14 seasons, the Raiders are 66-18 against Patriot League teams under head coach Dick Biddle for a winning percentage of .793. They have beat Fordham and Lafayette 12 times, Bucknell and Holy Cross 10 times, Lehigh eight times, and Georgetown seven times. They were also a perfect 7-0 against Towson from 1997-2003.
