Football Resumes Rivalry at Princeton

The Colgate Raiders (2-2, 1-0) will travel to Princeton (1-2) on Saturday, Oct. 9. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m., and can be seen taped delayed on Verizon FiOS1 Sports.

THE SERIES
This will be the 52nd meeting between Colgate and Princeton, with the Tigers leading the all-time series 26-24-1. Colgate won last season 21-14 in double overtime at Princeton Stadium.

THE COACHES
Colgate head coach Dick Biddle, who has the most wins in school history, is in his 15th season at the helm of the Raiders. His overall record is 115-53, and is 7-3 against Princeton. Biddle has won eight or more games in seven seasons during his career.

Princeton head coach Bob Surace is in his first campaign with his alma mater. He has compiled an overall mark of 19-5, and is 1-2 in his first season with the Tigers.

PRINCETON NOTEBOOK
The Tigers (1-2) are coming off a road loss to Columbia 42-14 and have allowed 30 or more points in all three games this season. Princeton is led on offense by junior quarterback Tommy Wornham and senior wide receivers Andrew Kerr and Trey Peacock.

Wornham, the week two Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week, has 858 yards through the air and 71 yards on the ground. He averages 286 yards passing per game. Kerr and Peacock have combined for 48 receptions and 663 yards receiving to lead the Tigers. Peacock leads the team with 26 receptions for 419 yards while Kerr has caught 22 passes for 244 yards.

On defense the Tigers are led by Andrew Stark and Jon Olofsson with 30 and 27 tackles, respectively.

EACHUS NAMED TO WALTER PAYTON AWARD WATCH LIST
Junior running back Nate Eachus has joined the race for the 2010 Walter Payton Award, sponsored by Fathead.com. The Payton Award is in its 24th season and is the Football Championship Subdivision's top individual honor.

Eachus, has rushed for an FCS-leading 160 yards per game this season and has rushed for at least 134 yards and carried the ball at least 28 times in all four games.

SMITH NAMED CFPA DEFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK
Senior defensive lineman Zach Smith was named College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) DI FCS National Defensive Lineman of the Week, after recording five solo tackles, three sacks and forced two fumbles in the homecoming win over Georgetown.

SULLIVAN SEMI-FINALIST FOR WILLIAM V. CAMPBELL TROPHY
Senior quarterback Greg Sullivan has been named a semi-finalist for the 2010 William V. Campbell Trophy. The National Football Foundation gives the award, formerly known as the Draddy Trophy, to a premier scholar-athlete in college football.

Sullivan, who was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll for the second straight year last season, is one of 28 semi-finalists named from the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).

COLBORNE, EACHUS, SMITH NAMED PL ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Senior Zach Smith (defense), junior Nate Eachus (offense), and sophomore Evan Colborne (special teams) were selected as Patriot League Football Players of the Week after their performances against Georgetown.

EACHUS NAMED FCS OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior running back Nate Eachus was named the Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS National Offensive Player of the Week following his performance against Georgetown.

Eachus had 44 carries for a season-high 214 yards and four touchdowns in Colgate's 34-3 win over the Hoyas. He also hauled in four receptions for 54 yards to total 268 all-purpose yards on the afternoon.

DIMASSA IS A TACKLING MACHINE
Senior linebacker Chris DiMassa currently leads the Patriot League in tackling with a total 41, which equals 10.2 per game. The last Raider to lead the league in tackling was Mike Gallihugh with 123 in 2007.

CLOSING IN ON 600
The Colgate football team enters Saturday's game against Princeton with 598 wins, just two shy off becoming the 15th program in FCS history to reach 600 wins.
The Raiders are also the ninth winningest program in the FCS over the last decade. Since 2000, Colgate has posted a recorded 84-37 and won four Patriot League titles.

Tailback Nate Eachus, a two-time All-Patriot First Team selection, is climbing up the Colgate record books where he is fourth in rushing touchdowns (33) and 10th in rushing yards (2,491).

THE BIDDLE ERA
Colgate head coach Dick Biddle is in his 15th season with the Raiders. Biddle has an overall mark of 115-53. He has achieved the best winning percentage (.691) of any Colgate coach with seven or more years at the helm of the Raiders. Biddle is also the first Colgate coach to ever record nine straight seasons with seven or more victories.

He has been named Patriot League Coach of the Year four times while guiding the Raiders to six Patriot League titles and six appearances in the FCS (formally I-AA) playoffs.

In 2003, Biddle was named the American Football Coaches Association Division I-AA National Coach of the Year after leading the Raiders to a 15-1 record, and to the national championship game of the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs.

COLGATE VS. NON-CONFERENCE TEAMS UNDER BIDDLE
In 14 seasons under head coach Dick Biddle, the Raiders are 48-35 against non-conference teams for a winning percentage of .593. They have a 34-8 mark against the Ivy League.
