Women's Basketball Falls in Chicago

 
CHICAGO, Ill. (12/28/09) -   Sophomore Tricia Oakes (Evergreen, Colo.) led the Raiders with 12 points and added six rebounds as Colgate fell to Loyola Chicago, 86-57, Monday evening at the Gentile Center.
 
Junior Krista Moser (Cedar Rapids, Ill.) led the Raiders in rebounding with eight boards while classmates Sami Kozlowski (New Market, Md.) and Tayler Wejnert (Ramsey, N.J.) added nine points apiece.
 
The Ramblers jumped out to a 15-0 lead by 10:44 into the first half as leading scorer Brittany Boeke tallied 12 points in the opening minutes. Boeke finished with a game-high 22 points. The Raiders responded by going on a 14-0 run to cut Loyola's advantage to one, 15-14, with less than seven minutes remaining in the half.  The Ramblers however, entered the half-time break with 34-25 lead.
 
Loyola continued to hold the advantage throughout the second half, earning their largest lead of the game, 84-54, with 1:49 left in the game. Colgate freshman Rebekah Ward (Montreal, Que.) recorded her first collegiate point, going 1-2 on free throw shooting, to close out the game.
 
The Raiders will be back in action Wednesday, Dec. 30, when they take on Detroit Mercy 7 p.m. at Calihan Hall in Detroit, Mich.
