HAMILTON, N.Y. (1/13/09) - The Colgate University women's basketball team will host conference opponent Lafayette on Tuesday, Jan. 14. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
The game will be broadcast live by Time Warner Sports on channel 26 in the Central New York area for those unable to make it to Cotterell Court. Eric Malanoski will call the action live on WKXZ 93.9, which also can be heard online through Teamline. Fans can also watch the game webcasted through the Patriot League's All-Access package. Colgate and Lafayette are meeting for the 51st time, with the Leopards leading the series 28-22. Lafayette won both meetings last season, but the Raiders kept it tight, falling 57-52 on Jan. 19, 2008 and 56-48 on Feb. 13.
The Raiders currently stand at 4-12 overall and 0-1 in Patriot League play. They are led by Tayler Wejnert (Ramsey, N.J.) with an average of 13.8 points per game. Sophomore Sami Kozlowski (New Market, Md.) follows with 10.4 points per game and is shooting 34.9 percent from three-point range. Georgia Gier (Mercer Island, Wash.) and Tricia Oakes (Evergreen, Colo.) lead the charge on the boards with Gier averaging 6.9 per game and Oakes averaging 6.4. Oakes is also the Raiders third-best shooter tallying an average of 9.3 points per game. She also recorded her second double-double of the year against Army last Saturday. As a team Colgate is averaging 54.1 points per game while shooting 39 percent from the floor.
Lafayette comes to Hamilton following a tough 60-45 loss to Holy Cross at home. The Leopards are 6-10 overall and 0-1 in league play. LaKeisha Wright leads the Lafayette offense with an average of 10.9 points per game. Cristin Zavocki follows with 10.4 points per game and is shooting 30.8 percent from behind the arc. Emily Gardner is pulling down 7.0 rebounds per game to lead the Leopards on the boards, while Jessica Spicer paces Lafayette in assists with an average of 3.1 per game. The Leopards are averaging 55.1 points per game as a team and shooting 39.9 percent from the floor. Lafayette is 0-7 on the road overall this season.
The Raiders will be on the road this weekend when they take on American in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, Jan. 17.
