HAMILTON, N.Y. (9/20/08)
– Senior tailback Jordan Scott (Hyattsville, MD) carried 29 times for 239 yards and two touchdowns to lead Colgate (2-2) to a 34-20 non-conference win over Dartmouth (0-1) Saturday at Andy Kerr Stadium.

Scott becomes the Patriot League’s all-time leading rusher with 5,015 yards, breaking the old mark of 4,834 yards held by Lafayette’s Erik Marsh (1991-94).  En route, Scott rushed for a school-record 16th straight game over 100 yards and posted his school-record seventh 200-yard performance.

Sophomore quarterback Greg Sullivan (Monroe, NY) carried 18 times for 136 yards and two touchdowns to become the first Colgate signal-caller to rush for over 100 yards in game since Ryan Vena did it against Bucknell in 1998.  Sullivan also connected on 7-of-10 passes for 119 yards and one TD.

Colgate took the opening kickoff 60 yards in three plays for a lightning strike 6-0 lead with Sullivan hitting wide receiver Pat Simonds (Sidney, NY) with a 41-yard touchdown pass.  The extra point was missed when the kick hit the left goal post.

On Dartmouth’s second possession, the Big Green cut the lead in half on a 39-yard field goal by Foley Schmidt with 4:05 left in the opening quarter.  In the second quarter, Dartmouth took a 10-6 lead when Milan Williams scored on a six-yard run to cap an 84-yard drive in 13 plays.

Later in the second quarter, Scott scored on an eight-yard run to put Colgate back in front 13-10 with 3:40 left, before Dartmouth tied the contest at halftime on Schmidt’s 26-yard field goal.

Eric Paul’s three-yard touchdown grab from Alex Jenny on Dartmouth’s first possession of the second half put the Big Green back in the lead, 20-13.  Colgate came back on the next possession to tie the contest on Scott’s two-yard run with 43 seconds left in third quarter.

The momentum turned into Colgate’s favor in the fourth quarter; when defensive tackle Carlton Walker (Columbus, OH) blocked Dartmouth’s 21-yard field goal attempt with 11:15 left in the game.  The Raiders immediately drove 80 yards in nine plays to take a 27-20 lead on Sullivan’s 14-yard TD run with 7:27 left.

Colgate closed out the scoring with 1:53 left on a 31-yard run by Sullivan to cap a four-play, 67-yard drive.

Colgate finished with 486 yards of total offense (367 rushing, 119 passing), while Dartmouth managed 434 yards (343 passing, 91 rushing).

GAME NOTES:  Scott moved into 18th place in FCS career rushing … Simonds finished with four catches for 63 yards.  He is one yard short of 1,000 career receiving yards … Coree Moses (Newington, CT) was Colgate’s leading tackler with nine … Walker finished with three tackles, two sacks, one fumble recovery and one blocked FG … Zach Smith (Thorofare, NJ) had two quarterback sacks.
