PRINCETON, N.J. (2/16/07) – The Princeton University women’s hockey team took a 1-0 game from Colgate on Friday, Feb. 16 at Baker Rink. The Tigers gain two points to pass the Raiders in the standings.
Colgate is now 14-14-2 overall and 13-7-1 in the ECACHL, while Princeton is now 15-10-3 overall and 13-6-2 in the league.
Princeton converted its first power-play opportunity to take a 1-0 lead at 8:05 of the opening frame. Senior
Brook Wheeler (Brussels, Ont.) stopped the initial shot with a kick save and the puck bounced back out to Laura Watt who was standing right out in front to knock in the rebound.
Colgate came out and dominated the first few minutes of the first period, before Princeton settled into its skates, but it was the Raiders that held an 8-7 edge in shots.
The Tigers had the advantage in shots in the second, 8-7, and in the third 10-5.
Wheeler made 24 saves for Colgate, while Kristen Young stopped 20 shots for Princeton.
Colgate travels to Quinnipiac for its final regular season contest of the season tomorrow, Feb. 17. The game takes place at 4 p.m., at the TD Banknorth Sports Center.
