HAMILTON, N.Y. (11/28/07)—Fantasia Goodwin registered 25 points and 13 rebounds to lead Syracuse to a 75-26 victory over Colgate University in non-conference women’s basketball action on Cotterell Court this evening. Goodwin went 10-of-20 from the field and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe to lead all scorers.

Erica Morrow chipped in 11 points for the Orange, while Nicole Michael had nine points. Eight other players got in the scoring column for Syracuse, which improved to 3-1 on the season. Chandrea Jones was strong on the glass, getting 11 boards, while Tasha Harris handed out five assists.
The two squads struggled to get into a rhythm coming out of the gates. Neither team was able to find its shooting touch, scoring a combined six points in the opening 5:28. Colgate took a 4-2 lead off of a jumper from Gillard, but the Orange slowly worked its way to a 13-point lead, 17-13, with a 15-2 run over the next four minutes.
The Raiders continued their cold shooting and Syracuse took advantage as it built the lead to 24 points 37-13 with 1:13 left in the opening half. Rookie
Sami Kozlowski (New Market, Md.) hit a jumper with 50 seconds on the clock to send the Raiders into the locker room down 37-15 after the first 20 minutes.
Colgate shot 25 percent from the floor in the opening stanza and Syracuse hit 36.1 percent of its shots from the field. Neither team connected from long range on a total of 15 attempts. The Raiders turned the ball over 13 times in the period, giving the Orange 15 points off of turnovers.
Syracuse came out in the second half and picked up the defensive pressure against the Raiders. The Orange pushed its advantage to 30 points, 47-17, in the opening four minutes. Syracuse was able to get good looks at the basket in the second half, while its stalwart defense forced Colgate into a 7.4 percent shooting performance.
The Raiders took care of the ball in the second 20 minutes, turning the ball over just eight times, but never seemed to find their shooting touch. The Orange got 28 points from its bench in the second half and 42 points in the paint to cruise to the 49-point victory.
Colgate shot just 15.7 percent from the floor, while Syracuse hit 37.1 percent of its shots. The Orange dominated the glass, sporting a 59-33 edge in rebounds, including gathering 23 offensive boards.
The Raiders return to action on Dec. 1 at University of New Hampshire. The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m., at Lundholm Gymnasium.
