Box ScoreHAMILTON, N.Y. (1/20/07) – Colgate junior
Tyler Burton (Langley, B.C.) posted the 100
th point of his career as he led the Raiders (10-12-4, 4-5-3 ECACHL) to a 4-1 win against Yale (8-8-3, 5-6-1 ECACHL) in ECAC Hockey League action on Saturday, Jan. 20, at Starr Rink.
After setting up the Raiders’ first goal that tied the game at 1-1 midway through the first period, Burton notched the milestone at the 9:59 mark of the second period. Senior
Marc Fulton (Vancouver, B.C.) had the puck behind the net, and he passed it to junior
Jesse Winchester (Long Sault, Ont.) on the left side of the crease. Winchester passed it to Burton on the other side of the goal mouth, and Burton one-timed it top-shelf.
The goal made Burton the 46
th player in Colgate history to record 100 points in his career. He is the first Raider since all-time leading scorer Mike Harder ’97 to reach the 100-point mark before his senior season. Burton has 51 goals and 49 assists in 102 career games.
The Bulldogs drew first blood, as Bill LeClerc recovered the puck from a scrum along the boards and shot from the right point over the blocker of Raider junior goaltender
Mark Dekanich (North Vancouver, B.C.) 9:42 into the game.
Colgate quickly responded. Burton passed the puck to Fulton, who shot and missed wide. Winchester picked up the loose puck to the left of the net and shoveled it past Yale goaltender Alec Richards.
Sophomore
Peter Bogdanich (Burnaby, B.C.) scored what would stand up as the game-winner 4:58 into the second period. Freshman
David McIntyre (Pefferlaw, Ont.) chipped the puck out of the defensive end, and a 2-on-0 rush resulted. Bogdanich skated in on the left side and put the puck just under the crossbar, over Richards’ blocker.
Early in the third, sophomore
Tom Riley (Ottawa, Ont.) netted his seventh goal of the season to make it 4-1. Off quick passes by senior captain
Liam Huculak (Lethbridge, Alta.) and junior
Ben Camper (Rocky River, Ohio), Riley chipped the puck past his defenseman and put it low past Richards.
Riley’s goal chased Richards from between the pipes, and he was replaced by Matt Modelski, who finished the game with five saves. Richards had 13 stops in the game. Dekanich earned the win after making 20 saves.
