PROVIDENCE, R.I. (10/22/05) - The Colgate University women’s hockey team skated to a 1-1 overtime tie against Providence on Saturday afternoon at the Schneider Arena.
It was the Raiders’ second straight overtime time, which places them at 0-1-2 on the season, while the Friars move to 0-1-1.
After a scoreless first period, Colgate freshman Elin Brown (Calgary, Alta.) scored her first collegiate goal at 2:09 of the second stanza. She was assisted by Sam Hunt (Calgary, Alta.) and Tara French (Truro, N.S.).
With a Raider checking penalty called late in the second period it carried over into the third. Providence capitalized on the call when Sonny Watrous tallied the game-tying goal on the power play just 43 seconds into the third period. Erin Normore was credited with the assist.

Wheeler’s 44 saves are a career-high, breaking her personal best of 43 in a game against Mercyhurst last season. Providence’s Jana Bugden stopped 18 shots in the contest
The Friars outshot the Raiders 12-4 in the first period, while shots were even in the second at 10 apiece, before Providence again had the advantage on shots in the third, 19-4.
