Trudy Fitness Center

The Trudy Fitness Center is an exercise and wellness hub available to members of the Colgate campus and the greater Hamilton community. It is a 15,000 square foot facility with gold LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council and receives an average of 3,000 users per week. A full time professional director, student, and part-time staff manage Trudy on a daily basis. It is connected to Huntington Gymnasium and is clad in blue stone, thereby maintaining the integrity of the campus’ architectural standards.
 
The Trudy Fitness Center was made possible through the generosity of Colgate alumni and parents and dedicated on April 9, 2011. Each of the center’s two levels recognizes major donors to the project.
 
The upper level is the Mark A. Mandel MD ’60 Cardiovascular Center:
 
 - 25 Precor 885 TRM treadmills
 - 24 Precor elliptical fitness crosstrainers
 - 8 Precor Adaptive Motion Trainers
 - 6 Precor upright bicycles
 - 4 Precor recumbent bicycles
 - 2 Expresso HD interactive upright bicycles
 - 2 Concept2 indoor rowers
 - 2 Strairmaster Gauntlet stepmills
 - 15” touch-screen video displays on all Precor cardio equipment for cable television
 - Internet connectivity allowing fitness center staff to monitor machine usage and performance
 
The lower level is the Mark P. Buttitta ’74 Strength Training Center:
 
 - 8 Hoist Power Cages
 - 2 Smith machines
 - 3 Leg presses
 - 1 Olympic lifting platform with Pendlay bumper plate set
 - Precor Icarian plate loaded machines
 - Precor cable training systems with various attachments
 - Urethane-coated dumbbells, barbells and weight plates with Colgate logos
 - 10 Hoist plate loaded Roc-It Series Weight Training Machines
 - Assorted fitness accessories including resistance bands, medballs, physioballs, BodyBars, mats and balance training equipment
 
Amenities include automatic lighting, music system playing Sirius satellite radio, television in the lobby area and a card swipe system for entry and usage statistics. The walkway to Huntington includes a lounge for study purposes, vending machines and televisions posting schedules and promotions.
